Pure Cascade

This image was made at Egan Chute, a natural and undeveloped provincial park near Bancroft, Ontario. Photographing the waterfalls, during a fresh snowfall in February for a full day, the light suddenly became soft and beautiful on the falls. Quickly I postured to find a good composition showing the flow of water. The three separate chunks of ice under the falls is the essential aspect of the photograph. The soft but detailed water flow over the pieces of ice add a contrast between solids and liquids. The splashing water in the foreground gives the photograph a base for exploration. The feeling of being in such a beautiful place and the sound of crashing water is successfully brought to life with this composition.
