Locality is a true sense of neighbourhood, a particular place or location and the photographs in this series are from a variety of nearby places. Central Ontario is filled with many interesting villages, towns and small cities to be walked and explored. In many cases they have certain characteristics that are throwbacks to past times, because the pace of modernization is slower. The character of these unique locations and people are important to me personally because they reflect my own life and interactions. I believe there is an important need to document these places during this time in history for future generations.
This series is photographed in the traditional documentary mode. Many photographers have felt the important need to do a road trip and challenge themselves to explore new and exciting places. Curiosity is best answered by exploration and documentation with the camera, and Canada’s smaller places are under represented.
