Photographing beauty in the form of wilderness landscapes and the natural environment is an important part of who I am as a photographer and a person. Although I truly love the challenge and importance of documenting the human world on the street in urban areas, I feel most home in nature being surrounded by peace and beauty and all things wild. It is a connection that is deep in my bones, reflecting an extremely important part of me, in essence a connection with the natural world that makes me feel whole.

Making great pictures in any genre of photography is extremely challenging, even more so in the most popular genre of photography. In informal surveys done before presentations at camera clubs, landscape and nature photography is always the most popular type of photography. Many photographers seek to escape the busyness of the urban landscape for the beauty and connection of the natural world and in doing so make pictures. Photography however, is much more than capturing the beauty around you but is also more importantly about telling stories. The ability of doing this successfully in the landscape and nature genre is much more challenging, as stories are not created by making random pictures of beauty. To achieve success in the genre of nature and landscape photography is extremely daunting, one I have yet to achieve.

This series is a collection of landscape photographs I have created over the past 15 years of travels through Canada. They represent my connection to the natural world and my love of the beauty of this country.
